One of the corniest guys on TV when I was growing up was Mr. Rogers.

MY mom LOVED him. I thought he was creepy friendly and the trolley and “The Land of Make Believe” were lame but my mom didn’t let me watch TV, so I gladly watched him. One thing Mr. Rogers used to say a lot was “I’m proud of you.”

And I’d think, “But you don’t know me. You wierd-o.”
